New member, Rudy Kellerman, was unanimously approved and welcomed to the club. Existing club members are encouraged to introduce themselves as soon as possible.
Eric Walker confirmed that Ben Willis would not be able to maintain the Club’s web site and asked for a volunteer to update and maintain our web site. If you are interested, please contact Eric at 864-231-0500.
A motion was made and seconded to approve the previously distributed minutes of the February 4, 2007 meeting.
Ben Willis was able to give us a contact with Anderson County, Robert Carrol, to pursue the use of County land as a flying site. Neal McGrath agreed to make the initial contact with the County. Ben was also aware of certain land off of New Prospect Road that was being leased as a hay field that might be suitable as a flying site. It was agreed that this would be worth looking into.
Neal McGrath reviewed the monthly and annual financial statements for the month of January and year-to-date. A motion was made and seconded to approve the financial statements as presented.
A discussion was held regarding several potential amendments to the Club’s by-laws. A motion was made and seconded to approved to delete the current cap of 50 members from the by-laws. Eric Walker indicated that he would draft several additional changes to the by-laws for the next meeting.
A suggestion was made that officers wear name tags at the flying site and other club functions to make it easer for new members to identify the officers. Eric Walker agreed to look into getting some name tags made.
Ken Whitfield reminded everyone that we should be following all of the AMA safety rules and specifically pointed out the dangers of wearing lose clothing around the aircraft. Ken indicated that he would likely propose certain changes to the Club’s safety rules shortly.
The Blue Ridge Swap Meet is February 17, 2007
The Southeastern Model Show will be held in Perry this year on March 2nd and 3rd. Hours on Friday will be 12-9pm.
Dues for 2007 are now due. Dues for existing members are $30 and can be remitted to Neal McGrath at the following address:
